Waterproof canvas is a canvas that is processed by special technology and is used for waterproofing or moisture-proofing, moisture-proofing, and cold-proofing. It generally refers to the plastic-coated cloth series. It is made of fiber fabrics and chemical filling materials through production processes such as dipping, coating, scraping, baking, and cooling. The standard material composition of the plastic-coated series of waterproof canvas is a cloth blank woven from high-strength tensile polyester, high-quality resin powder, plasticizer, stabilizer, and an appropriate amount of calcium powder with other small amounts of chemical raw materials. It is 100% waterproof. In most areas in the north, it is called tarpaulin, and in some areas in the south, it is also called cover cloth, tarpaulin, and oilcloth. There are PVC coated cloth, waterproof nylon cloth, etc.
The main component of PVC coated cloth is polyvinyl chloride (PVC). During the manufacturing process of PVC canvas, some auxiliary materials such as plasticizers and anti-aging agents are added to enhance its heat resistance, toughness, ductility, etc. The surface is coated with paste resin with speed increaser, mildew inhibitor, anti-aging agent and other chemical additives. It has non-flammability, high strength, climate change resistance and excellent geometric stability. It also has natural functions such as waterproof, mildew resistance, wear resistance, durability, cold resistance, aging resistance, etc. Waterproof nylon cloth has excellent mildew resistance, flame retardancy, 100% waterproof, more waterproof than other canvases, good low softness, high strength, strong tensile strength, and relatively light. The main processing method is high temperature heat sealing.
