Which is better, PE or PVC tarpaulin? The difference between PE tarpaulin and PVC tarpaulin. Many people cannot tell the difference between PE tarpaulin and PVC tarpaulin. From the literal meaning, PE and PVC are definitely different.
What is the difference between PE tarpaulin and PVC tarpaulin? Let the waterproof tarpaulin manufacturer answer this question for you!
PE: The chemical name is polyethylene, which is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic material and is the material for making PE tarpaulin. So what are the characteristics of PE?
We know that polyethylene is odorless, non-toxic, feels like wax, has excellent low temperature resistance, good water absorption, good electrical insulation, can be used normally at -70 to -100 degrees Celsius, and has good chemical stability.
PE tarpaulin is generally produced using HDPE (high-density polyethylene), which has a higher operating temperature, good hardness, mechanical strength and chemical resistance. Polyethylene is suitable for hollow blow molding, injection molding and extrusion of various products (hard), such as various containers, nets, strapping tapes, and can be used as cable coverings, pipes, profiles, sheets, etc.
PVC tarpaulin is a plastic-coated high-strength polyester waterproof cloth. It is made of high-strength polyester canvas as the base fabric, coated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) paste resin, and added with speed increaser, mildew inhibitor, anti-aging agent, antistatic agent and other chemical additives, and plasticized at high temperature. It has the properties of waterproof, mildew-proof, cold-resistant, aging-resistant, and anti-static; and the breaking strength, tear elongation, and tear strength of this product are much better than traditional tarpaulins; the product appearance is colorful and pleasing to the eye. The surface is specially treated to prevent slipping. It is an internationally popular waterproof cloth, and the width is very large, reaching 2 meters wide. When processing the finished product, it can reduce the seams and improve the quality. It can be heat-sealed and spliced to avoid the worry of sewing pinholes and water leakage. And products with different functions, colors, and thicknesses can be produced according to user needs.
The raw material of PE tarpaulin generally refers to color striped cloth, which is coated with PE film on both sides of PE woven cloth, and polypropylene woven cloth is also used. Its production process is: wire drawing-circular weaving-double-sided lamination. This kind of tarpaulin has poor waterproof performance, and generally cannot guarantee waterproof performance after one use. The disadvantage is that it is easy to wear and tear, and the advantage is that it is light in weight and clean and pollution-free.
PVC tarpaulin is a polyester filament base cloth coated with PVC paste resin on both sides. Because it is a dip-plastic process and is formed in one time, there is PVC slurry in the gaps of the cloth, so it has good waterproof performance. Its production process is: polyester filament cloth-dip-plastic coating-drying and shaping-calendering cooling-winding. Now the tarpaulins on trucks, yards and other rainproof supplies are all made of PVC tarpaulins. PVC materials have good rainproof properties, PVC has good fatigue resistance, and the anti-aging of PVC tarpaulins is far better than PP and PE tarpaulins.
